We utilize a 3D CAD Coordination procedure on all of our mechanical projects.  Our standardized protocol starts with obtaining the Architects/Engineers document files for our use in modeling all the services associated with our scope of work.  The floors are then modeled to include all the pertinent structural and architectural features.  We then import files from other subcontractors (sprinkler, electrical, specialty suppliers, etc.) in order to develop a model representative of the entire building.

We model the water and mechanical pipe, waste / vent, and medical gas piping throughout the building.  We also model the mechanical equipment.  Spool drawings are generated from the piping models and built in our Fabrication shop.

Utilizing NavisWorks Manage with clash detection we are able to view the entire building model and detect any conflicts in the modeled final product.  These conflicts are then corrected through coordination meetings with all involved parties.  Drawings can be shared through our own ftp site or on the Construction Manager's ftp site.  Once the coordination procedure is complete the final drawings can be viewed by our supervision and tradesman, on-site, with NavisWorks Freedom to aid in visualizing what is to be built.

We maintain an exprienced and well trained staff that uses state of the art software on high performance hardware to accomplish the coordination effort described above.  In addition to the NavisWorks software previously described we maintain 11 licenses of AutoCAD, 11 licenses of CADPIPE Commercial 9.0, 1 license of CADPIPE HVAC 9.0, and 3 licenses of CADPIPE Hanger 8.2.  We also maintain other CAD licenses that help us utilize Engineers drawings that may have been developed with other software packages.  We employ a minimumof 6 fulltime CAD operators with over 80 years of combined industrial, commercial and mechanical design experience.  All operators are proficient in our 3D drafting protocol.  Our full-time CAD manager maintains a well defined corporate CAD Standard that utilizes standard AIA layer configurations.
