ADAL Apron Hydrant System
Joint Base Charleston, SC
For five years the Charleston Air Force Base went through a major renovation to their JP-4 fueling system and parking apron in support of the new C-17 aircraft. Bell performed the transition that included the demolition of existing parking pavements, site redevelopment of new aprons and taxiways, and a new Air Force Type III fueling system. The work required the construction of two 10,000 bbl above ground fuel tanks, installation of 19,000 linear feet (14” diameter stainless steel-100% x-ray inspection) of underground fuel piping, a new fuel pump house and the modification to an existing pump house.
The upgraded airfield apron and fueling system were coordinated and phased through three separate contracts. Bell successfully received all three project awards.
