UVA University Hospital Design/Assist Expansion

Bell is the Mechanical and Plumbing Design-Assist subcontractor on this $240 million UVA Hospital Expansion Project for a new 460,000+ SF 10-story tower.  The project includes a new emergency department, sixteen (16) Operating and Interventional Procedure Rooms, support departments, and six floors of Intensive Care and Acute Care patient units. 

Bell provided budgeting at the 100% Schematic Design, 100% Preliminary Design, 50%, 90% and 95% Construction Document Levels including; Budget Management (Scope Growth Control plus Value Management Recommendations and Pricing), Constructability Reviews, Specification Change Recommendations, and Collaborative BIM reviews with model improvements.  Bell’s Budget Management resulted in over $3 million of accepted value savings to the mechanical and plumbing budget.  Design Assist and Preconstruction Services also included the Early Procurement of Major Equipment and the off-site Prefabrication of Corridor Rack Systems.
