Project Overview

Bell was selected by first time clients Skanska and Boeing to install the mechanical, process and plumbing piping for this new 256,000 SF state of the art painting facility on Boeing’s Campus in Charleston, SC.  Boeing’s Decorative Paint Facility allows for two 787 Dreamliners to be painted simultaneously, helping Boeing to secure a campus in South Carolina that enables a complete start-to-finish production on the Dreamliners.

This project includes a new chiller plant, boiler room, process air equipment and a waste water treatment system.

The chilled water system consists of three 1,600 ton chillers and two 400 ton chillers and associated pumps, cooling towers and equipment.  To help offset energy consumption during peak operations the facility has a secondary cooling system consisting of 144 ice storage tanks that are capable of delivering 472 ton/hr. of cooling.

The boiler room is fit-out with three 12,000 MBTU condensing boilers and associated equipment providing the facility with heating hot water and all processing hot water demands.  In addition, the boiler room has three 500 ACFM process air compressors and receivers equipped to meet the breathing air-to-tool air demands.
