In early July, Bell BCI, LLC was selected to perform the Mechanical and Plumbing component of United Therapeutics' 215,000 SF Headquarters expansion located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. This is an important win for Bell as we continue to strengthen our position as a leading “green” mechanical contractor in the Mid-Atlantic region. This is Phase Three of the project, which will culminate in an expanded HQ building, connection to the UT manufacturing facility, and parking, retail, and outdoor upgrades and finishes. When complete, this LEED Gold-certified headquarters building will operate on Net Zero Energy: the amount of electrical and thermal energy consumed will be renewably generated on-site throughout the course of the year. To achieve this ambitious goal, the tech-enriched facility will include various sustainable features including photovoltaic panels, geothermal wells, a high-performance electrochromic curtainwall, earth-coupled heating/cooling system, natural ventilation, daylight harvesting, and a thermal pool.
Bell was awarded the Mechanical and Plumbing Contract for the fit-out of the first floor of a government office building, encompassing approximately 41,200 sf, and associated MEP support areas.
As the mechanical and plumbing design-assist subcontractor, Bell is a vital partner in the efforts highlighted in the article, “University of Va. Accelerates Hospital Project to Meet COVID-19 Demand”, April 2, 2020, Engineering News-Record (ENR). Bell’s team at UVA Hospital Expansion Project is led by Phil Hull, Project Manager, and Monty Dickson, Project Superintendent. CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE…
